Doubt in faith can be a sign of weakness, but through strengthening faith and effort, one can overcome these doubts.
Doubt and hesitation in faith can affect a person's feelings, but the Quran addresses this topic in various ways. In Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 254, Allah emphasizes to the believers to seek His support and not to doubt in their transactions. This indicates that it is natural for humans to experience doubt in certain matters, but it should not turn into a point of weakness. In fact, the spirit of faith needs strengthening, and believing men and women must rely on piety and strong faith when facing life's challenges. In Surah آل عمران, verse 139, Allah invites the believers to patience and steadfastness, reminding them that they must remain firm in their faith. These verses highlight that doubt can stem from a lack of awareness or self-confidence, but through study, prayer, and efforts to strengthen faith, one can overcome such doubts. Additionally, in Surah Al-Ma'idah, verse 93, Allah asserts that those who strengthen their faith and pursue the truth are granted mercy from Him. Therefore, while doubt in faith may be a sign of weakness, with effort and strong belief, believers can conquer these doubts and continue to nurture their faith.
O you who have believed, spend from that which We have provided for you before there comes a Day when there will be no exchange and no friendship.
So do not weaken and do not grieve, and you will be superior if you are true believers.
There is no blame upon those who believe and do righteous deeds for what they have eaten, if they feared Allah and believed and did righteous deeds.
One day, Adel pondered how painful doubts in faith can be. He decided to turn to the Quran and found a verse in Al-Imran reminding him that he should be patient and rely on God when facing challenges. From that day on, Adel made it a habit to pray more and study the Quran as part of his daily routine. He noticed that over time, the doubts he harbored turned into certainty, and he found greater peace of mind.
