Seeking refuge in God against Satan’s temptations helps preserve one’s faith and piety.
In the Holy Quran, there is a strong emphasis on the importance of seeking refuge in God and asking for His assistance against the temptations of Satan. Satan is recognized as the enemy of humanity, whose aim is to deceive and mislead those who strive to follow the right path. In Surah Al-Falaq (Chapter 113) verses 1-5, Allah commands His servants to seek refuge from the evil of Satan and anything that may come from him. These verses clearly indicate that the existence of Satan and his deceitful ways are real, and humanity must seek a secure refuge, which can only be provided by God. Seeking refuge in God means clinging to Him and making Him the essence and purpose of one’s life. Additionally, in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 168, Allah warns humanity that Satan desires to lead them into corruption and misguidance. Seeking refuge in God signifies distancing oneself from the temptations of Satan and striving to maintain one’s faith and piety. Ultimately, seeking refuge in God gives us the power to endure life’s challenges and find greater tranquility. Thus, the Quran advises us to constantly seek refuge from Satan and draw closer to God.
Say, 'I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak, from the evil of the lurking whisperer, who whispers in the breasts of mankind, of jinn and mankind.'
O you who have believed, eat from the good things which We have provided for you and be grateful to Allah, if it should be Him that you worship. And do not follow the footsteps of Satan. And whoever follows the footsteps of Satan, indeed, he enjoins what is indecent and unlawful. And if it had not been for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy.
One day, Hasan felt a deep sense of worry and anxiety. He remembered the verses of the Quran and decided to seek help from God. Every night, Hasan prayed and sought refuge from Satan, and after a while, he felt a stronger sense of peace and confidence. He realized that remembering God gave him the strength to face challenges.
