In the Quran, Allah is the ultimate source of guidance, conveying it through the Holy Quran, divine prophets and messengers, infallible Imams, and righteous scholars. Any true believer who serves as a good example through their actions and character can also be a source of guidance for others.
In the sublime teachings of the Holy Quran, the issue of guiding humanity towards the straight path is of fundamental importance. The Quran clearly states that Allah Almighty is the sole and ultimate source of guidance. It is He who illuminates hearts with His wisdom and mercy, showing His servants the right way. However, this divine guidance reaches humanity through various intermediaries and channels, each of whom is considered a source of guidance for others in some way. Firstly, the 'Holy Quran' itself is introduced as the most important and complete source of divine guidance for humanity. This Book is full of light and clarity, illuminating the path of truth from falsehood. The Quran contains profound monotheistic knowledge, divine laws, admonitory stories of prophets and past nations, and noble ethics. Whoever firmly grasps the rope of the Quran and acts upon its commands by pondering its verses will undoubtedly be led to prosperity in this world and the hereafter. The Quran is not only a personal guide but also provides principles for guiding human society towards justice, peace, and brotherhood. After Allah and His Book, His 'Prophets' and 'Messengers' are the most prominent guides of humanity. Allah Almighty has sent chosen individuals to convey His message and guide people. These prophets, including Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and the Seal of Prophets, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), not only delivered divine teachings to people but also served as practical examples and embodiments of moral virtues and servitude to God. With patience, steadfastness, wisdom, and kindness, they invited people to worship the One God and to live a pure and dignified life. Their mission was not merely to convey the message, but also to explain it, to educate and purify souls, and to establish justice in society. Obedience to the Messenger is, in fact, obedience to Allah, and following their way is the path to true guidance. The role of the prophets in guidance is unparalleled because, with their infallibility and divine knowledge, they were protected from any error and were affirmed and supported by Allah. In addition to the prophets, some verses mention 'rightful Imams and leaders' who are appointed by Allah and are entrusted with the mission of guiding the community after the Prophet. These individuals are the inheritors of the prophets' knowledge and wisdom, guiding people towards the correct interpretation and practice of religion. They are a guiding light in darkness and guardians of the Sharia over time. The existence of these leaders ensures the continuation of the divine guidance after the demise of the prophets. Furthermore, 'pious scholars' and 'inheritors of the prophets' who, through their knowledge and actions, invite people to God and Quranic values, can also be sources of guidance. These individuals, with their deep understanding of the Quran and Sunnah, resolve ambiguities and clarify the right path for their followers. Through their good character and exemplary conduct, they demonstrate a practical example of religious teachings and soften hearts with words of wisdom and good admonition. Of course, the guidance provided by these individuals is in alignment with divine guidance and the guidance of prophets and imams, not parallel to it. Finally, it can be said that every 'true believer' who, through good deeds, excellent morals, and adherence to Quranic values, becomes a role model for others, can also be a source of guidance. Believers, by enjoining good and forbidding evil, and by demonstrating the right way of life through their actions, are in a sense guides for others. Anyone who carries the light of faith in their heart and manifests it in their life can have a positive impact on those around them, leading them towards goodness and truth. Thus, the circle of guides begins with the Divine Essence, extends through divine revelation and the infallible divine authorities, and encompasses every true believer who spreads the light of guidance through their actions and morals. This hierarchy of guidance demonstrates the vast mercy of Allah, who never leaves any human being alone in the darkness of ignorance and error, always providing guides to lead them towards light and perfection.
This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah.
And We made them leaders guiding by Our command, and We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshippers of Us.
By which Allah guides those who pursue His pleasure to the ways of peace and brings them out from darknesses into the light, by His permission, and guides them to a straight path.
It is said that in ancient times, there was a wealthy merchant who felt lost in life. Despite his immense fortune, he found no joy. One day, he went to a wise sage and said, "O wise sage, I have everything, yet I have lost my way in life. Guide me." The sage, with a kind smile, replied: "My son, the path of guidance passes through you and is illuminated by the light emanating from divine words and the virtuous conduct of the righteous. You must find the light of wisdom in your heart and listen to the guidance of God and those He has sent." Upon hearing these words, the merchant came to his senses and decided that instead of accumulating wealth, he would seek knowledge and act upon religious teachings. He began to study the Quran and associate with righteous people. Gradually, his heart became enlightened, and he found the straight path. He then understood that true guidance lies not in wealth and status, but in connecting with divine light and following true guides, and he himself became a lamp for others.
