Why do some people not follow the right path?

The reluctance to embrace the truth may stem from ignorance, worldly desires, and neglecting the remembrance of God.

Quranic Answer

The Quran provides many reasons for why some individuals do not follow the right path or embrace faith. In Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 26, Allah says: 'Indeed, Allah is not shy to present an example, that of a mosquito or what is above it...' This verse indicates that some individuals, due to ignorance and lack of understanding, find it difficult to grasp the truths. This misunderstanding can stem from psychological barriers and emotional constraints. Moreover, worldly desires and doubts also greatly influence people's daily decisions. In Surah Yunus, verse 100, it is stated: 'And it is not for a soul to believe except by permission of Allah...' This elucidates that guidance is a divine gift, and if Allah wills, He directs an individual toward the truth. In fact, some individuals persist in their mistakes due to neglecting the divine signs and forgetting the remembrance of Allah. Additionally, in Surah Az-Zumar, verse 53, Allah calls out: 'Say, O My servants who have believed, fear your Lord...' which emphasizes that Allah continuously invites His faithful servants to be mindful and righteous. In this context, it becomes essential for individuals to liberate themselves from the chains of worldly distractions and cultivate feelings of love, compassion, and kindness towards life's truths.
