In the Holy Quran, arrogance and pride are recognized as undesirable traits that should be avoided. In Surah Luqman, verse 18, Allah says: "And do not turn your cheek [in contempt] toward people and do not walk through the earth exultantly. Indeed, Allah does not like anyone who is self-deluded and boastful." This verse reminds us not to see ourselves as superior to others and to conduct ourselves with humility and modesty in society. Additionally, in Surah Al-Furqan, verse 63, God describes the characteristics of His righteous servants: "And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth humbly, and when the ignorant address them [harshly], they say [words of] peace." This verse indicates that God's servants respond to the ignorance of others with patience and respect, acknowledging that they are not superior to anyone. To stay away from arrogance and pride, we can engage in the remembrance of Allah and constantly see ourselves as small in front of His greatness. The reminder that we are all human and equal before Allah can help us steer clear of such undesirable traits. Additionally, performing good deeds and serving others can aid us in cultivating humility and modesty in our lives. Thus, by adhering to the teachings of the Quran and remembering that everything we possess is a gift from Allah, we can distance ourselves from arrogance and pride.
