Do not respond to the ignorant and deal with them with respect and composure.
The Holy Quran provides instructions and guidelines for dealing with the ignorant. One of the methods that the Quran recommends is to remain silent and not respond to ignorant individuals. In Surah Al-Furqan, verse 63, Allah says to the Prophet (PBUH): "And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth with dignity and when the ignorant address them [harshly], they say [words of] peace." This verse illustrates that believers should avoid quarrels and conflicts with the ignorant and instead respond with respect and composure. Additionally, in Surah Al-Imran, verse 186, Allah warns believers that they will encounter many vain and incorrect statements: "Indeed, you will hear from those who were given the Scripture before you and from those who associate others with Allah much abusive talk." Therefore, refraining from arguments with the ignorant not only prevents conflicts but also helps maintain spiritual and mental peace. In fact, this approach can assist us in utilizing our energy wisely and advancing on the path we deem right. Moreover, the Quran has instructed us to respond well to the knowledgeable and virtuous while avoiding discussions with the ignorant. This highlights the importance of knowledge and awareness in our lives according to Islam. Ultimately, rather than responding to the ignorant, it is better to focus on our own learning and growth and use the Quranic teachings to enhance our understanding.
