To preserve ourselves in a sinful society, we must rely on Allah and take advantage of prayer and supplication.
Preserving oneself in a sinful society is a significant and challenging task. In the Holy Quran, Allah advises the believers to maintain their composure when confronting obscenity and sin, and to remember Him. In Surah Al-Anfal, verse 53, it mentions, 'And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient.' This indicates that Allah tests individuals to measure their patience and resilience. If one can endure in these circumstances and turn to Allah for help, they will be protected from temptations and sins. Furthermore, in Surah Al-Imran, verse 200, it states, 'O you who have believed, persevere and endure and remain stationed and fear Allah that you may be successful.' This calls for patience and piety. To achieve this goal, one must strengthen their relationship with Allah through prayer and supplication and avoid bad company that can lead them towards sin. Additionally, individuals should increase their awareness of the negative impacts of sin and wrongful behavior, thereby safeguarding themselves through ethical virtues and divine piety, even in the face of a sinful society.
And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient.
O you who have believed, persevere and endure and remain stationed and fear Allah that you may be successful.
One day, a hermit sat by the roadside observing the life around him. He wondered to himself, 'How can I preserve myself in this world full of sin and evil?' Suddenly, he recalled the verses of the Quran and a wave of calm washed over him. He decided to remember Allah daily and resist temptations. From that day forward, his life changed, and he felt a greater sense of joy and tranquility.
