Raising honest children is facilitated by parents setting an example and creating a warm and secure environment.
Raising an honest child is one of the most important tasks of parents. In the Holy Quran, honesty and truthfulness are among the notable characteristics of believers. To educate honest children, parents must first serve as examples of honesty. Children often mimic their parents, and if parents are truthful in their words and actions, the children will learn this trait from them. Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 177 states: 'And those who fulfill their pledge when they pledge and [those who are] patient in poverty and hardship and during battle...' This indicates that truthfulness and loyalty to one's promises are qualities of believers. Parents can create an open and secure environment for conversation, encouraging children to feel comfortable expressing themselves honestly. Utilizing continuous educational methods, including reading books and telling stories, can also aid in developing the sense of honesty in children. Moreover, storytelling can be an effective way to impart moral values, narrating tales of honesty and the consequences of rightly behaving to children. Therefore, honesty is not just limited to speaking the truth; it also involves nurturing a sense of responsibility in children. Gradually, your child will learn that honesty and truthfulness are foundational pillars of faith, guiding them to lead a life built on integrity.
And those who fulfill their pledge when they pledge and [those who are] patient in poverty and hardship and during battle...
And hasten toward forgiveness from your Lord and a garden as wide as the heavens and the earth, prepared for the righteous.
And those who are to their trusts and their covenant due.
One day, a kind-hearted woman named Sara decided to raise her son, Ali, with honesty. Every night before bedtime, she would tell him stories of the prophets. Ali was greatly influenced by the stories of the honesty of Prophets like Muhammad (PBUH) and Jesus (PBUH). Sara said to him, 'Ali dear, honesty and truthfulness are always important in life and help us find good friends and earn the respect of others.' Every day, Ali made an effort to be as honest as the prophets, and Sara promised to support him on this path.
