Patience here signifies actively enduring hardships, perseverance on the righteous path, and never losing hope. Thus, Allah’s presence with us in crises is contingent upon our seeking assistance through these two steadfast pillars of faith. When we extend our hands in need towards Him and remain resilient in the face of challenges, we truly feel that He has not abandoned us, and that His aid is always near. Furthermore, in Surah Al-Mujadilah (verse 7), Allah says: “Have you not considered that Allah knows what is in the heavens and what is on the earth? There is no secret conversation of three but that He is the fourth of them, nor of five but that He is the sixth of them, nor of less than that nor more except that He is with them wherever they are. Then He will inform them of what they did on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, Allah is, of all things, Knowing.” This verse emphasizes Allah’s all-encompassing, knowledgeable companionship. Numerous examples of divine companionship during crises can be observed in the stories of the prophets and righteous individuals recounted in the Quran. Prophet Moses (peace be upon him), when confronted by Pharaoh and his armies and surrounded on all sides, declared to his companions: “No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me.” (Surah Ash-Shu’ara: 62). This unwavering faith in Allah’s presence and assistance, even at the peak of apparent hopelessness, led to his miraculous salvation and the drowning of the Pharaohites. This instance demonstrates that when all hopes are cut off and material means prove ineffective, divine companionship reaches its pinnacle and paves the way for deliverance. Such narratives teach us that even in the darkest valleys, the light of divine hope never extinguishes. Similarly, during the Hijra (migration) of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and Abu Bakr in the Cave of Thawr, when enemies were pursuing them and were only a few steps away, Allah revealed to His Prophet: “Do not grieve; indeed, Allah is with us.” (Surah At-Tawbah: 40). This verse illustrates that even in the most perilous and terrifying moments, the divine presence is a source of tranquility and security. This presence is not just a promise; it is an ongoing reality that protects the believer against fear and despair. Allah reminds us that even if the entire world seems against us, His presence alone is sufficient to calm our hearts and allow us to walk forward with steadfastness. It is only necessary to call upon Him with our whole being and trust in Him.
