Hasty judgment is considered a sin in the Quran and should be avoided.
In the Holy Quran, the issue of judgment and its scrutiny is emphasized. In Surah Al-Hujurat, verse 12, Allah says: 'O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin.' This verse warns believers against baseless suspicions and hasty judgments, as they can lead to sin. Hasty judgment means making decisions without carefully analyzing the facts and jumping to conclusions based on incorrect perceptions. This type of judgment can jeopardize relationships and create issues within the community. In fact, Allah reminds us in this verse that to make a sound judgment, we must consider things carefully and avoid hasty decisions. In Surah An-Nisa, verse 135, Allah further emphasizes the need for justice in judgment: 'O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses in (some) cases for Allah.' Therefore, for believers, judging based on fairness and justice is extremely significant, and hasty judgments can lead to deviation from this path. Consequently, refraining from hasty judgments and biases contributes to a correct and beneficial action in society.
O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin.
O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah.
One day in a village, two individuals were having a disagreement over a topic. One of them hastily judged the situation without fully examining it, leading to misunderstandings. However, the other one, with calmness and patience, sought to uncover the truths and showed the reality to his friends. In the end, they realized the consequences of hasty judgment and decided to always investigate before making conclusions.
