Avoiding hidden sins brings one closer to God and preserves faith.
In the Holy Quran, the importance of avoiding sins, especially hidden sins, is particularly emphasized. Hidden sins, like open sins, can have negative impacts on both the soul and society. In Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 174, Allah states that those who sin in secret distance themselves from His mercy. This verse illustrates that hidden sins do not merely have superficial aspects; they also contaminate the inner being of a person. Additionally, in Surah Al-An'am, verse 120, Allah teaches us to avoid both open and hidden sins, as sin will lead to punishment and judgment. This verse embodies the key principle that both hidden and open sins can lead to divine punishment and deviance from the straight path. Therefore, hidden sin, as a wrongful act, distances us from a proper relationship with Allah and jeopardizes our faith. Moreover, one must be conscious of their thoughts and intentions. Hidden sins, while they may not be visible to others, exist within a person and this can result in a dilution of their faith and piety. Ultimately, every individual should be aware that Allah is aware of their deeds, and nothing is hidden from Him. Thus, by refraining from sins, a person not only pays attention to their piety but also seeks closeness to Allah and His mercy.
Indeed, those who hide their sins, know that Allah is aware of their inner being, and He will subject them to the punishment of the fire.
And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment.
Once upon a time, there was a man named Masoud who was known in his town for his honesty and piety. He always remembered that Allah was aware of all his thoughts and actions. He decided never to sin, even if no one could see him. But one day, in a secluded place, he was tempted. After that moment, he struggled internally. He felt deep remorse and recalled the Quranic verses that reminded him that Allah knows everything. He decided to repent and not think about hidden sins again. As soon as he repented, he experienced a unique sense of peace in his heart.
