In the Holy Quran, intention and purpose in human actions are highly emphasized, with pure intention recognized as one of the core principles in Islam. Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 225 states: "Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear..." indicating that God expects only as much from individuals as they are capable of. A sincere and pure intention in faith to God and performing good deeds brings about numerous virtues. It is also narrated that "actions are judged by intentions," which means all deeds are evaluated based on their underlying intentions. Therefore, if we hold a pure and sincere intention and make efforts to do good, this intention and effort can often lead to the forgiveness of sins. However, it is important to note that intention alone is not sufficient, and actions must also be in accordance with God's commands. Surah At-Tawbah verse 104 emphasizes that sincere repentance towards God can cleanse one from their sins. Hence, pure intention can serve as a gateway to experience divine mercy, but it must be complemented by righteous actions as well.
