How can I avoid envy?

To avoid envy, focus on your own blessings and be grateful, while praying to Allah for a pure heart.

Quranic Answer

Envy is a negative trait that is strongly condemned in the Holy Quran. To avoid this feeling, we must first remember that Allah is aware of everything and grants each person what is best for them. In Surah Al-Hashr, verse 23, Allah refers to His beautiful attributes and states: 'He is Allah, besides whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Most Sacred...' This means we should be content with Allah's wisdom and be grateful for our blessings rather than envious of others. Furthermore, in Surah At-Talaq, verse 7, it says: 'Let a person of abundant means spend from his abundance...' This verse shows that God understands what is best for each individual, and therefore we should not envy what others possess. One of the best methods to avoid envy is to focus on our own strengths and achievements. Additionally, we should engage in prayer and repentance, asking Allah to purify our hearts from envy. Strengthening our faith and cultivating a positive spirit are key components in this journey. Ultimately, by reminding ourselves that envy harms us and weakens our connection with Allah, we can achieve inner peace.
