Doing good to others is highly emphasized in the Quran, which includes acts of kindness and helping the needy.
In the Holy Quran, doing good and helping others is considered one of the essential characteristics of true believers. Allah emphasizes in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 177, that giving charity, being kind to others, and assisting the needy are clear indicators of genuine faith. Furthermore, in Surah An-Nisa, verse 36, Allah advises us to be good to our parents, relatives, orphans, the needy, and neighbors. These verses clearly highlight the significance of positive interaction and doing good to our surroundings. Additionally, in Surah Al-Mu'minun, verse 57, Allah commands us to engage in righteous deeds and not to fear doing so. This implies that whenever we have the chance, we should strive to help others and show them kindness. For instance, we could share food, assist orphans, or spend time helping others—these acts are forms of doing good. Moreover, practicing good behavior and maintaining excellent relationships with others is also a way to better our interactions and bring joy into our lives. Lastly, the Quran reminds us that every act of goodness, no matter how small, is recognized by Allah. Therefore, ultimately, with a pure intention for the sake of Allah and in hopes of earning His pleasure, we can deliver goodness to others and create a spirit of love and empathy in the community.
Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is in one who believes in Allah, the Last Day, the Angels, the Scripture, and the Prophets and gives his wealth in spite of love for it to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves; and [who] establishes prayer and gives zakah; [those who fulfill their promise when they promise] and [those who are] patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are the righteous.
And worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and to parents, do good, and to relatives, orphans, the needy, the speaker of justice, and the petitioners.
One day, a man named Hasan decided he wanted to help his neighbors. Every day, he would prepare some food and take it to their doors. One day, one of the neighbors thanked him and said how much his actions positively impacted their life. Hasan felt a deep sense of happiness and pride hearing this and decided to continue this practice. He realized that doing good not only helps others, but it also brings joy to oneself.
