In the Holy Quran, the value and importance of love and kindness to others is emphasized. The Quran constantly invites people to love and befriend one another, which is considered a fundamental principle in human relationships. For instance, in Surah Al-Imran, verse 31, Allah instructs the Prophet to say, ‘Say, if you should love Allah, then follow me, so Allah will love you and forgive you your sins.’ This verse shows that true love emerges without expectation. People should not have any expectations when they show love and kindness to others, as love itself carries a higher value. If we love others without expecting love in return, our action reflects sincerity and pure intentions. Moreover, the Quran states, ‘And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression’ (Surah Al-Ma'idah, verse 2), which emphasizes the importance of cooperation in doing good and loving one another. Love without expectation can lead to establishing positive and healthy relationships with others and bring us closer to Almighty God. Thus, by being affectionate towards others without expectations, we can enhance the beauty of life and human relationships, while also experiencing a stronger bond with God.
