Confronting oppression requires unity and resistance. We must advocate for the rights of others against tyranny.
Living in the face of oppression and injustice is one of the most significant challenges that individuals and societies face. The Holy Quran clearly teaches us not to remain silent in the face of oppression and to stand against the oppressors. In Surah An-Nisa, verse 135, it states: 'O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or your parents and relatives.' This verse instructs believers to adhere to justice regardless of the circumstances. It means that if they witness an act of oppression, they should speak out against it and strive towards righteousness and justice. Additionally, in Surah Al-Imran, verse 104, Muslims are encouraged to cooperate for truth and justice: 'And let there be [a group among you] that invites to goodness and enjoins what is right and forbids what is wrong.' Allah emphasizes the necessity of unity and cooperation in promoting good and forbidding evil. Therefore, one of the main ways to confront oppression is through community solidarity and standing up against the oppressor. Ultimately, remaining silent in the face of oppression can lead to dire consequences and can push us into despair and hopelessness. Thus, as Muslims, we must actively respond to oppression and advocate for the rights of others.
O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or your parents and relatives.
And let there be [a group among you] that invites to goodness and enjoins what is right and forbids what is wrong.
Once upon a time in a not-so-distant past, a man named Ahmad lived in a small town. He always refused to stay silent against the injustices he witnessed around him. One day, a neighbor faced an attack on their rights. Without hesitation, Ahmad stood up and defended his neighbor's rights. He understood that silence in the face of oppression would not only harm him but would also put his community at risk. He courageously stood against oppression and became known as a champion of justice and fairness.
