Repentance to Allah and hope in His mercy are among the best ways to cope with sin.
The Holy Quran provides many ways to cope with past sins. One of the first steps is to repent towards Allah. In Surah At-Tahreem, verse 8, Allah invites the believers to repent, stating: "O you who have believed, repent to Allah with sincere repentance; perhaps your Lord will remove from you your evil deeds and admit you into gardens beneath which rivers flow." This verse demonstrates that repentance is the foremost step towards relieving the burden of past sins. Furthermore, faith in Allah's mercy and compassion is crucial. Allah says in Surah Az-Zumar, verse 53: "Say, 'O My servants who have believed, fear your Lord! For those who do good in this world is good, and the earth of Allah is spacious. Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account.'" This verse highlights that hope in His mercy is the best way for coming to terms with wrongdoing. Additionally, rectification and compensation for errors through good deeds and charitable acts can also be impactful. The Quran states in Surah Al-Furqan, verse 70: "Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous work. For them Allah will replace their evil deeds with good. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful." This verse reminds us that corrections and good actions can shield us from sins and help us build a new life. Lastly, establishing a close relationship with Allah and consistently praying can have a significant effect on coping with past sins. Overall, believing in Allah’s mercy, sincere repentance, performing good deeds, and maintaining prayer and connection with Allah are the best methods for dealing with past sins.
