To maintain the light of faith in the heart, it is essential to connect with God and perform righteous deeds.
Maintaining the light of faith in the heart requires a deep and continuous connection with the Almighty God. In the Holy Quran, faith in God and divine light is emphasized as one of the superior qualities of believing individuals. Surah Al-Ma'idah, verse 54, states that Allah elevates those who believe and do righteous deeds to a glorious status. Therefore, obedience to divine commandments and performing good deeds is the key to preserving the light of faith. Additionally, fostering friendship and love towards fellow beings and helping others strengthens and solidifies the light of faith in the heart. Surah Al-Imran, verse 92, mentions that one will not attain righteousness until they spend from what they cherish. Besides faith and good deeds, it is essential to grow through knowledge and awareness. In the Quran, the discussion of knowledge is significant, as Surah Al-‘Alaq, verse 5, introduces reading and learning as the first revelation to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). In this context, through the study of the Quran and Islamic texts, one can take firm steps towards maintaining the light of faith. Furthermore, one should never forget the remembrance of God while performing religious obligations, as invoking His name and making supplications can keep one’s heart away from darkness. Lastly, establishing connections with righteous and faithful individuals helps us remain steadfast on the path of faith. Therefore, maintaining the light of faith requires commitment to divine objectives and personal growth in various aspects of life.
O you who have believed, whoever of you should revert from his religion - Allah will bring forth [for] a people He will love and who will love Him, [who are] humble toward the believers, mighty against the disbelievers. They strive in the cause of Allah and do not fear the blame of a critic. That is the favor of Allah; He bestows it upon whom He wills. And Allah is All-Encompassing and Knowing.
Never will you attain the good reward until you spend [in the cause of Allah] from that which you love. And whatever you spend - indeed, Allah is Knowing of it.
Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous.
