How to speak kindly according to the Quran?

Kind and affectionate speech is fundamental in human interactions according to the Quran, and Allah emphasizes its importance.

Quranic Answer

The Holy Quran places significant emphasis on speaking kindly and using good words. In Surah Fussilat, verse 34, it states, 'And not equal are the good deed and the bad. Repel [evil] by that [deed] which is better.' This verse directs us to respond to evil with good, embodying the need for kind speech and affectionate behavior. Additionally, in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 83, Allah commands us to be good to one another, which includes speaking in a kind and loving manner. Using beautiful, good, and pleasant words helps in establishing strong relationships and reducing animosities. These teachings highlight the importance of gentleness and good speech in our personal and social relationships. Moreover, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has also mentioned the importance of good speech in various hadiths and said, 'A good word is a gift from God.' Hence, we should strive to interact with others using kind and ethical language at all times and make this a guiding principle of our lives. Indeed, generosity in speech and the choice of affectionate words are invaluable tools for building a healthy and loving community.
