How can I have a soft heart?

A soft heart is achieved through the remembrance of God and love for others. The importance of prayers and seeking forgiveness should not be overlooked.

Quranic Answer

In the Holy Quran, having a soft heart and kindness in dealing with others is considered one of the traits of believers. Allah says in Surah Al-Imran, verse 159: "So by mercy from Allah, you were lenient with them. And if you had been rude in speech and harsh in heart, they would have disbanded from about you." This verse illustrates how love and compassion for others can attract their affection and friendship. To possess a soft heart, one must first remember God and seek His help. In Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 165, it says: "And among the people are those who take other than Allah as equals [to Him]. They love them as they should love Allah." This verse emphasizes that to develop a soft heart and healthy human relations, one must have an accurate understanding of God's love and love for His creation. Paying attention to the verses of the Quran and acting accordingly guides individuals towards greater softness in heart. Additionally, in Surah Al-Muminun, verse 61, it states: "And those who strive for Our verses - We will surely guide them to Our paths." Soft-heartedness can be cultivated through praying and seeking forgiveness from Allah. Remembering and invoking God in daily life, along with striving to serve others, transforms one into a better individual and softens their heart.
