To have a happy marriage, love and respect for each other and cooperation at home are essential.
To be a good spouse, it is essential to adhere to the principles outlined in the Holy Quran. In Surah Ar-Rum, verse 21, Allah states that among His signs is creating spouses from among yourselves so that you may find tranquility in them. This verse highlights the importance of love and kindness in marital life. Another significant verse is in Surah An-Nisa, verse 19, which advises both men and women to treat each other with kindness and maintain love and respect in their married lives. It is crucial to focus on positive and constructive dialogues and to avoid negative judgments. Additionally, Surah At-Tawbah, verse 71 encourages believers to support one another and treat each other with dignity. This suggests that cooperation in household matters and assisting each other are essential for a happy and successful marriage. Therefore, to be a good spouse, prioritize love, respect, and collaboration within the family, using the Quran as your guide.
And among His signs is that He created for you from yourselves spouses that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed, in that are signs for a people who give thought.
O you who have believed, it is not lawful for you to inherit women by compulsion. And do not restrict them to make off with a part of what you gave them unless they commit a manifest indecency. And live with them in kindness. For if you dislike them—perhaps you dislike a thing and Allah makes therein much good.
And the believing men and the believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and establish prayer and give zakah and obey Allah and His Messenger. Those are the righteous.
One day, a man named Hasan decided to make some changes in his marital life. He recalled the Quranic verses and realized that love, respect, and cooperation were essential in life. From that day on, Hasan paid more attention to his wife and listened to her words. Over time, their married life became happier and more meaningful. This experience taught him that with a little effort and love, he could become a better spouse.
