Differences in opinions are a natural part of life and should be addressed with respect and listening to one another.
Differences in opinions are a natural part of life. The Quran reminds us that this should not lead to conflict and division. In Surah Al-Hujurat, verse 10, Allah says: 'The believers are but brothers, so make settlement between your brothers.' This verse teaches us the importance of respecting differences and striving for unity. Furthermore, in Surah Al-Imran, verse 103, Allah emphasizes the need for unity and avoidance of division in devotion to Him and His religion: 'And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided.' To deal with differing opinions, it is essential to first listen to others with respect and understand their perspectives. This could involve creating an environment for dialogue and discussion. Learn from one another and avoid looking down on differing opinions. Also, in times of disagreement, keep your intentions pure and never forget to respect one another. As a tangible example, consider family prayers where different opinions may arise regarding how to pray. By fostering a suitable and respectful atmosphere, you can allow each individual to express their views without fear of judgment so that ultimately, you can arrive at a common prayer that satisfies everyone. This not only leads to agreement but also strengthens familial relationships.
The believers are but brothers, so make settlement between your brothers.
And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided.
One day, two caring and friendly friends were sitting together with different opinions on an important topic. They decided that instead of arguing, they would listen to each other and learn from one another. One shared examples from past stories, while the other provided insights from the Quran. In the end, by respecting each other's opinions, they reached a consensus that both viewpoints could be correct and that these differences not only allow them to live together but also enrich their relationship.
