Respectfully engaging with non-believers means honoring their choices and fostering dialogue.
Engaging with individuals who do not hold religious beliefs requires utmost respect and a deep understanding. The Holy Quran teaches us in Surah Al-Mu'minun, verse 72, that humans possess reason and free will, making them responsible for their actions. Therefore, if someone does not follow a religion, it is essential to respect their choice. One of the crucial aspects to consider is to refrain from judging others. Surah Al-Hujurat, verse 12, reminds us to avoid slander and wrongful judgments. Moreover, in Surah Al-An'am, verse 108, Allah instructs us to treat those with differing beliefs gently and guide them towards truth. For instance, instead of passing judgment on their religion, encouraging open dialogue and exchanging ideas can help foster mutual understanding. Additionally, it is vital to exhibit kindness and good conduct to present Islam positively. The Quran states in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 256: 'There is no compulsion in religion,' meaning there should be no force or pressure in religious matters. Therefore, we can establish connections with those who lack faith through friendly and loving approaches, inviting them to gain a better understanding of our faith.
Were they created from nothing, or are they the creators?
O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite each other.
Take what is given freely, and enjoin what is good and turn away from the ignorant.
One day, Adel had a meeting with a friend who lacked faith. He decided to listen to him respectfully instead of debating beliefs. During their conversation, Adel reminded his friend that the primary goal of human connection is mutual understanding and love. This interaction led to the formation of a new friendship, enabling Adel to share the positive messages of his faith without judgment. Ultimately, they agreed to always regard each other's opinions with respect and remember that love is always the best way.
