Why should we remain hopeful even in the depths of darkness?

Even in darkness, we must remain hopeful, as Allah has promised that no one will despair of His mercy.

Quranic Answer

In the Holy Quran, Allah reminds us to maintain hope under all circumstances. The story of Prophet Yusuf (Joseph) illustrates how he did not lose hope even in the depths of prison and steadfastly believed in God's promises. In verse 87 of Surah Yusuf, he tells his brothers, 'Do not despair of the mercy of Allah; indeed, no one despairs of the mercy of Allah except the disbelieving people.' This verse encourages us that even when everything seems to be against us, we should not succumb to despair. Moreover, in Surah Al-Imran, verse 139 states, 'And do not grieve or be saddened.' These verses emphasize the significance of hope in the social and personal lives of Muslims. Remember that life is filled with challenges and trials, but being hopeful enables us to utilize our strengths against adversities and ultimately overcome them. Hope propels us towards greater efforts and reminds us that no darkness is permanent, and light will soon come. Therefore, we must remain hopeful in the heart of darkness and focus on divine promises.
