Blessings are signs of Allah's mercy, and we should not underestimate them. Gratitude towards these blessings leads to receiving more of them.
In the Holy Quran, blessings and divine gifts are introduced as signs of God's mercy and love for His servants. In Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 21, Allah commands, 'O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous.' This verse shows the importance of gratitude towards God for the blessings bestowed upon us. Additionally, in Surah Ibrahim, verse 7, Allah states, 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase your favor upon you; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.' This verse clearly reminds us that gratitude towards blessings is one of the conditions for receiving more blessings. Underestimating blessings not only deprives us of greater bounties but also leads us to be indifferent towards our life's circumstances. In Surah Al-Mu’minun, verse 78, Allah says, 'And He it is who created you from one soul and made for you hearing and sight and hearts; little are you grateful.' Reflecting on these verses evokes a profound contemplation about blessings and an evaluation of our life circumstances. Underestimating blessings is not only a spirit dampener but can also invite feelings of loss and dissatisfaction in our lives. Thus, recognizing and appreciating blessings fosters a heightened sense of happiness and contentment, and expressing gratitude in our lives is an effective way to enhance our relationship with God.
O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous.
And if you are grateful, I will surely increase your favor upon you; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.
And He it is who created you from one soul and made for you hearing and sight and hearts; little are you grateful.
One day, Adel was sitting in a field wondering if God was sufficient for him. He felt inside that whatever he had was neither abundant nor satisfying. Suddenly, he remembered a verse from the Quran that said, 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase your blessings.' From that day on, he decided to express gratitude every day for what he possessed. Gradually, he found that his life filled with blessings, and he could recognize and enjoy the beauty of each day more profoundly.
