Instilling ethical behaviors requires ongoing effort and learning from the verses of the Quran.
Instilling ethical behaviors within ourselves requires ongoing and deep effort across all aspects of our lives. One effective tool in this regard is the Holy Quran. The verses of the Quran remind us of ethical principles that we can apply in our daily lives. For instance, in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 177, Allah states that righteousness is not merely about directing one's face toward the east or west, but it includes belief in Allah, the Last Day, angels, scriptures, and prophets, as well as generosity toward relatives, orphans, and the needy — characteristics that we must cultivate within ourselves. This verse emphasizes that we should consider ethics and humane behaviors in various areas of life. Additionally, Surah Al-Hujurat, verses 11 and 12 emphasize the need to avoid judgment and gossip while encouraging one another towards goodness and honesty. This requires a positive outlook and careful selection of our words and actions. Another reminder from the Quran is the maintenance of calmness and patience in challenging situations. In Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 153, Allah encourages believers to seek help through patience and prayer. These methods not only aid in instilling ethical behaviors but also lead to inner peace and satisfaction. Ultimately, achieving success in embedding ethical behaviors necessitates continuous practice and asking for assistance from Allah. By relying on God and striving to strengthen our ethical spirit, we can develop a better character and move towards securing the satisfaction of our Lord and establishing healthy human relationships.
Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is in one who believes in Allah, the Last Day, the Angels, the Book, and the Prophets and gives his wealth, in spite of his love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves; and [who] establishes prayer and gives zakah; [those who fulfill their promise when they promise; and [those who] are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are the righteous.
O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them. And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames. Wretched is the name of disobedience after [one's] faith. And whoever does not repent - then it is those who are the wrongdoers.
O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.
Once upon a time, there was a man named Amir who sought to improve his behaviors. He turned to the teachings of the Quran and found solace in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 177, realizing that righteousness is not just about outward appearances but involves true actions and faith. He decided to help others more and be kind toward them. Day by day, with his good behavior, he influenced others, filling their lives with love. Thus, he was able to instill goodness and ethical behavior within himself based on the verses of the Quran.
