To keep good deeds hidden, have sincere intentions and perform them discreetly.
In the Holy Quran, there are references to secrecy and the importance of keeping our actions discreet, which is vital in how we conduct our deeds. In Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 273, Allah states, 'The charity is only for the poor and the needy and those who collect it and for those whose hearts are to be reconciled and for freeing captives and for those in debt and for the cause of Allah and for the traveler.' This verse teaches us that giving charity and performing good deeds should ideally be done in secrecy and not be flaunted publicly. In essence, when one performs good deeds discreetly, it makes the act purer and more accepted by Allah. Additionally, in Surah Al-Muzzammil, verse 20, Allah instructs His Messenger to 'approach your Lord with obedience.' From this, we can infer that drawing closer to Allah through righteous deeds and acts of worship is best done in privacy and away from the eyes of others. Hidden deeds not only reflect a sincere intention but also earn appreciation and praise from Allah. Therefore, humans must strive to keep their kind acts and good deeds from becoming a display unless necessitated by circumstances. Thus, to keep our actions hidden, we must perform them with a pure intention and according to Allah's wishes.
Charity is for the poor and the needy and those who collect it.
And approach your Lord with obedience.
One day, a pious man was reflecting on how he could keep his good deeds hidden. He recalled the teachings of the Quran and decided that every time he performed a good act, he would do so without any boast and merely for the pleasure of Allah. After a period, he realized that this behavior not only positively impacted his own life but also brought joy to others. He mused, 'The inner secret of each person should remain with them, for only Allah knows our intentions.'
