The Quran emphasizes preserving dignity and self-respect, and any action that harms one's honor is considered inappropriate.
The Holy Quran places great emphasis on preserving the dignity and honor of individuals. In various verses, Allah instructs believers to pay attention to safeguarding the dignity and respect of others in their words and behaviors. For instance, in Surah Al-Hujurat, verse 12, Allah says, "O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother while he is dead?" This verse clearly indicates that, according to Quranic teachings, preserving the dignity and honor of individuals is essential and obligatory. Moreover, in Surah An-Nur, verse 19, it says, "Indeed, those who like to see immoral conduct spreading among the believers will have a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter." This highlights that respecting the dignity and honor of others is not only moral but also that violating it will lead to severe consequences. Thus, the Quran teaches us that any action or speech that risks the dignity and respect of others is not only inappropriate but also leads to adverse outcomes. The education of preserving dignity for oneself and the community should be deeply integrated into our lives. Muslims should avoid conflicts and accusations while striving to offer each other respect and collaborate with goodwill.

One day, a man named Hamid went to the market and saw his friends gossiping about their neighbor. He recalled the Quranic verses and decided to remain silent against this inappropriate behavior. After a while, his friends realized that Hamid valued preserving dignity, and they too refrained from gossiping. This experience taught Hamid that respecting the dignity of others is not only correct but also improves social relationships.
