Divine guidance is dependent on God's will and the choices of individuals influence this matter.
The Holy Quran points out that the guidance of God is at His discretion and occurs based on His knowledge and wisdom. For instance, in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 261, Allah says, 'Allah guides whom He wills.' This means that guidance is dependent on God's will and decree. In certain cases, He leaves people to make their own choices, which can be influenced by their nature and conduct. In fact, God grants humanity free will, allowing them to make good or bad choices. In Surah Al-A'raf, verse 178, it states, 'And whom Allah wills, He leads astray.' This signifies that based on the actions and behavior of individuals, some are guided while others are deprived of guidance. Additionally, in Surah Al-Ma'idah, verse 41, it is mentioned, 'And if Allah had willed, He could have made you one nation.' This implies that the existence of differences among people is part of God's test, and guidance and misguidance are part of this trial. Therefore, it can be concluded that both guidance and misguidance are manifestations of God's power and wisdom, and individuals can find themselves on the path of either guidance or misguidance through their choices.
Allah guides whom He wills.
And whom Allah wills, He leads astray.
And if Allah had willed, He could have made you one nation.
One day, a man with different beliefs approached a sage and asked, 'Why are some people not guided?' The sage replied with a smile, 'My child, God has granted everyone free will. Many individuals choose which path to take. Those who are not prepared for guidance may remain devoid of it. Therefore, we must always seek the truth and open our hearts to the divine.'
